Price API · Waitlist
Hospital and payer prices, as one API.
Hospitals and health plans publish their prices in huge, inconsistent machine-readable files. We're deciding whether to turn them into one cited, versioned API. Tell us what you'd build with it.

What we'd build
- Hospital standard charges (gross, discounted cash and payer-specific negotiated rates) from the files hospitals must publish under the CMS price transparency rule
- Payer negotiated rates from the transparency-in-coverage files health plans publish
- Lookups by billing code, provider NPI, plan and place, with the source file and its date on every answer
- The same envelope, versioning and MCP tools as every other healthcare.dev dataset
Who asks for it
- Price comparison and shopping tools
- Agents that answer what a procedure is likely to cost at a given hospital
- Benchmarks for contracting and claims review
- This data is not built yet, and we don't have a launch date. We're measuring interest before we build it.
- Procedure codes would come as code numbers; we never serve AMA CPT descriptions.
- Prices are public reference data. Never send us patient information.

If we build it, it won't have a separate charge: calls count against your plan like every other dataset.
